Can I get Ketoacidosis from a low carb diet? – Ketosis VS Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)

Hi! My name is Kevin. I have used a Ketogenic Diet and nutrition to lose 150+ pounds and keep it off. During my quest for health I have become seriously interested in nutrition, integrative medicine and increasing my own as well as other's overall quality of life. Since I am not a licensed doctor or health practitioner, none of my videos or comments constitute medical advice. I will share my experiences and what I do for my own optimal health, but if you have questions or concerns about your own situation it is best for your to consult your own doctor or medical professional.

I use and recommend these products to compliment your keto lifestyle:
J. Crows 2% Lugol's Iodine Solution –
My Favorite Low Carb Sweetener –
I recommend Smackfat Ketone Strips –
I use the Match DNA Milk Frother –
I use NOW MCT Oil –

In my videos I review products and make product recommendations. These products are all products I use myself. If I include a link to a product, I may get a few cents from the sale of that product. It won't cost you anymore than if you were to go directly to Ebay or Amazon and buy it.

Careful. I have no risk factors. Was helicoptered off the mountain & hospitalized for 3 days with ketoacidosis. Endocrinologist prescribed a low carb diet for idiopathic rapid stomach emptying: 30 grams carbs with high fibre and protein every time I eat. Backpacking, I ate every hour and drank water more often. Symptoms started at end of day 2: loss of appetite, mildly short of breath, urinating hourly but drinking lots. No vomiting till day 3, when we called for help. Diet has worked for 2 years now with hiking, but not moderate backpacking. I had trained well, and done the same trip before in early pregnancy.

That’s not a good sign! Shortness of breath could be an electrolyte imbalance or something else entirely. Ketosis and fasting should lead to mental clarity, not confusion. I hope you feel better by now.
