I don’t wanna brag about this but, I’ve been as HI as the glucometer could not read the blood sample and as low as it could not read the lowest reading from a (lower than 20 mg/dl) and I’m still here 19 years non-complications.
    Thank God.

I am T2 diabetic. Been on Keto diet for 1 month and the Dr told me to be aware of keytone levels. I have not invested in a keytone monitor yet and was very uncertain about ketoacidosis symptoms. This is a tremendous help. Thanks for posting this!

This is exactly what happened to me when I found out I had type 1 diabetes. I was 55 years old but I did not throw up. I didn’t have any confusion. I lost all my weight could not stop going to the bathroom to pee and was drinking water by the gallons that I don’t like water. Everyone knew me in town as a councilwoman and when I entered the hospital ER they said what has happened to you Barbara? I didn’t know the one they took my blood sugar it was over 400 and I was a vegetarian since 1980 but ate Dairy. The doctor had given me with that or the year before which I could have sued but because it was generic I couldn’t. Lipitor is a cholesterol medication and apparently the doctor thought Dairy had given me high cholesterol. I believe it was 250. I finally related it to food the 2014 and became a vegan but still had Dairy once in awhile. It wasn’t until 2016 that I became a serious vegan and 2018 that I’m a raw vegan or trying my best to be. Yes it’s helping a lot to keep down the insulin use. I know exactly what that is what you were because that was me. My granddaughter was so scared because she was only 7 years old and didn’t know what was happening. I’m so sorry for her that I was so ignorant about food. She’s never gotten over that fear of losing me for a week in the hospital not knowing if I was coming home. I was scared to. So you’re saying ketoacidosis has the same symptoms as when you get diabetes. Well I don’t have that anymore thank God!

Type 1 at the age if 55 really? You sure you dont have “LADA” (Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults) which is like type 1 but develops slower and is more common in adults. 80% develops type 1 before the age of 20 after that its extremely rare in your case insanely rare.

Wow! I liked the fact that it used a Medical Terminology to describe well the symptoms that he was having but in generally speaking it shows some situations are totally unacceptable because this guy was in life or death situation.
Firstly, if this lady she knew that this man is diabetic and having a red face, complaining of constant thirsty and constant peeing she should checked he’s sugar level in immediately and call 911.
Secondly the glucose miter reads the highest are 599 then if passed over 600 it shows either Hi, 3-9? Or some kind of error signs.

Well, I was working with a type 1 diabetic autistic guy and his glucometer was only showing HI, I got nervous but took a finger test on him and then found out that it was something wrong with his glucometer, not his glucose. His sugar levels were normal, and I was very glad it was!
