I have type 1 diabetes
I started to drink and go to the toilet a lot and eventually we ran out of drinks so I had to only drink milk and water which was really boring so my mum and dad took me to a doctor and the doctor did tests on me. Then he said “You need to go to the hospital immediately, your child has type 1 diabetes. My dad said ” Why can’t we go tomorrow, because I need to pick up her mother tonight”. But he just said “You cant, you have to go today”. I had to stay in hospital for a week!
After I learned about diabetes and now I have 3 injections of Insulin a day and 6 blood tests (more in case I’m low).
TheFoxGaming I was very sick so you know how it was my parents even gave me an early birthday present of frozen which I was dying to see I ended up not eating or drinking so my mum and dad made me drink a protein shake full of sugar as they had no idea what was wrong with me I hated it so I agreed to drinking half then normal coke to wash the taste out so when i went to the hospital I was around 30.1 most of the time I had to miss my grandmas birthday and then this year I missed it to and now she’s dead I hate my life for missing her birthday and not seeing her on her birthday 2 years I will never get back

Well im type 1 diabetic since i was 1 years old. im 36 so i dont know if this could work for me but hopefully someday it will because having diabetes is not a joke. Is hard. But God willing this truly do go through and the cure is found

U. 30/70 Insugen (biocon) at lunch & dinner time before meal, not taking precautions for foods everything I take sweets & potatoes & all other things like tea, coffee. It’s amazing she got a transplant and how there might be a cure soon but I don’t like the exaggeration she put on her life with Diabetes. I got diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when I was 3 so I have had it for 10 years now, and it’s not that terrible. It’s not embarrassing to carry around a kit or change your pump site. It’s frustrating sometimes, but not a living hell. I’ve almost had a seizure once from a low blood sugar so I can relate to that part, I just don’t like the exaggeration. When you live with Type 1 Diabetes, you become a stronger person, and her stories made it seem Type 1 Diabetics are weak or something.
My diabetes has caused me so much anxiety since I was 4 years old and I’m sick and tired of it, I want a cure. This disease is tearing me apart and I just want to be normal.
Can I just say I have type 1 diabetes at the beginning she said she would have to get a glucose shot well if you actually check your blood levels and had sugar with you that would help😂👍

Im a type one, going on about 6-7 years now. Tattoo on my arm to show it. I was diagnosed in 7th grade and it hit me like a ton of bricks. Staying up crying in that hospital bed just a young kid, I’ll never forget that. But as my life has moved on, (which it always does) I’ve learned a lot about myself and even though I’d take it back if i could, you gotta accept it for what it is, thats the first part of embracement really. If you can think of it like that it becomes as simple as brushing your teeth, taking a shower everyday, something we’re used too. Be thankful we have progressed far enough in this disease that we have learned to control it, and know just because it may be considered a handicap, you’re definitely not doomed. My biggest fault is making sure I take my lantis, i always forget the long acting lol. But we as humans strive to be better in our lives in everything we do, and you gotta make sure you are no exception. Just remember this quote; “God gives his strongest soldiers his toughest battles, and would never give you anything he didn’t think you couldn’t handle”. God bless everyone living with this disease, lets show diabetes they picked the wrong people to mess with!!! 😁

What they failed to mention here is 3 things:
1) You will need to take immunosuppressants for the entire period this treatment works and the effects of that can be much more devastating than type 1 diabetes. And this isn’t a life-long ‘cure’ either. Your body will regect the transplanted cells at some point in the future and this solution is only temporary.
2) There will be a shortage of donors using the method they used here. Cells from multiple donors are required for each single person undergoing this procedure and you don’t really get an endless supply of dead bodies to chose from.
3) Saying that this is a 30-minute outpatient procedure is very misleading. Yes it can be if you don’t care about the well being of your patients but in reality the patients need to be admitted for prophylactic immunosuppression first and then have to be monitored for if they regect the transplanted cells.
I would have liked to know how long ago she had the transplant? I read about this procedure 8 years ago. All transplants were mostly successful up to a point. About 80% of patients reverted back to being diabetic as the body killed off the transplanted cells within months. A few went for a year or so, before they also reverted back. Only 2% at the time of my reading had continued to be diabetic free…… no good putting in the cells if your body kills the new cells. They need to understand why the body has killed people’s pancreas cells in the first place to be highly successful. Just feels like lucky dip at the moment. I was going to sell my house so I could have the transplant, but 2% wasn’t a high enough figure for me. I would like to think maybe now the figure might be higher…..but no one knows why the body turns and kills of your pancreas in the first place so until they understand sadly foe me and others there will never be a cure.
I have diabetes type 1 ! 🙂 you just have to learn to live with it, not to feel desperated or sad! Sport, good nutrition, take care of yourself, be careful with low blood sugar and make the best of your life! I wish you all diabetic type 1 all the best and I hope one day will come in the we will not need to inyect insulin anymore!! 😀 just remember: the less insulin you inyect in your body, the more healthy you stay! But please, just taking blood sugar into account! so practice sport and eat low glycemic carbohydrats like quinoa, bulgur and lots of vegetables! try to eat less carbohydreates (the ones you eat shoul be slow ones! ) ! they are making you inyect more insulin!
