People should stop promoting keto, it’s not a diet anyone should adhere to without doctor supervision. Everyone should eat a diverse diet and that includes carbs. For me, the Agoge diet plan worked wonders, I no longer have visible cellulite and lost significant amounts of fat.
My biochemistry proffesor said that being on a carb restricted diet can lead to a ketoacidosis, ketones on normal people are used in the same way as people with T1D… Also, ketones are acids so their presence in blood might lower the pH in it, leading to an acidosis. Please, could you explain your point deeper? Thanks
Look up Dr. Ken Berry, he has a lot of good information about the subject! 🙂
Well DKA and ketosis value might differ In the blood but are they metabolised in the same way ???
First off, I’m not a doctor nor I am giving medical advice. This is just my opinion. Only time ketosis should be reached is if and when you’re doing an extended fast. We are carbon based and thrive off carbohydrates. Every cell needs glucose, not from fat. I firmly believe you should avoid meat, dairy and all processed foods. Fat causes insulin resistance. Not to mention animal protein has been linked to diabetes, heart disease, cancer and a plethora of other problems. An ideal diet, especially for a diabetic, would be fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds and herbs. With supplementation of minerals and vitamins that are bioavailable to the body. Just my 2 cents. Mostly everyone disagrees with me stance but that’s ok. Orchestra leads turns his back to the crowd to lead the symphony. Have a nice day and godbless🙏
Pretty spot on. Your assertions is worth about 2cents….Give or take a few.
babosing I am the proof💯
So your ‘science’ is based on your ‘belief’. Unfortunately, that’s not what science is. Come back when you have real science proof
So I’m on a Keto diet and I tested myself with a urine strip and the color results show my level of Ketones are between 10-16 MMOL/L. Should I be concerned?
@Virta Health
Really?
Because pediatric endocrinologist clinics do not even write prescriptions for blood ketone test strips.
Believe me, I tried and our insurance will even cover it too.
They just say that urine ketone strips suffice.
I do know that a blood ketone measurement is much more accurate, and can detect it much sooner than urine ketone strips, but the blood ketone strips are also expensive!!!
Like $10 or more per strip!!!
People who are not upper upper middle class, and there is a lot of people like that) do not have that kind of money.
@HDi Business center hey are you all fine now?
@Arel G I’m getting a blood meter next paycheck, I increased my water intake and also added lemon juice with salt 3 times a day. I feel amazing getting close to the second week on keto i had never feel this good in the last 10 years. I dont see much weight lost. But i feel better which is what it matters.. thanks for the help
Hey @HDi Business center I asked this question to my doctor and he said that urine ketone levels are different then blood ketone levels. Keep in mind Im no doctor, but if your concerned then maybe do a blood ketosis test.
@HDi Business center It is unlikely to be reflective of blood ketones and is more a reflection of needing to drink more water.
