Stepwise surgery for diabetic retinopathy, part 1
Due to lack of PVD this surgery is performed in 2 steps: Step 1: Vitrectomy + laser + gas. Step 2 (next video). PVD, peeling + silicone oil.
This is a video of our common book: Small gauge vitrectomy for diabetic retinopathy from Spandau/Tomic at Springer.
Why use air instead of silicon oil for tapenade? And anti-VEGF before the surgery is preferred for this kind of cases.
Why no anti-VEGF Before surgery? The patient comes from far away. The complete surgery had to be done in one week. Why use air and not silicone oil? This video has two parts. On monday I operate core vitrectomy, laser and air because no PVD. On thursday, I operate again. Now PVD is present. I operate peeling and silicone oil.
Have you ever had any patients with Florid Diabetic Retinopathy?
Interesting
Yes, of course. Many. In this case I Always inject immediately intravitreal anti-VEGF.
